Continental

Continental AG is a German tire company, created on October 8, 1871. Continental, with its 150,000 employees, is currently the 4th largest tire manufacturer in the world, closely following Michelin, Bridgestone and Goodyear.

In the automotive sector, Continental has also launched into hybrid and electric propulsion systems. Together with Daimler AG, Continental produced the first Li-ion battery used in the Mercedes S400 Hybrid (W221, 2009) as well as the BMW 7 Series (2009).

Three major divisions make up the company; Continental Pneus, Conti Tech and Continental Automotive Systems. The acquisition of this last division, in 2007, propelled the annual turnover from 13 to 24 billion euros. All of the synergies with the Siemens VDO group, over the years, have enabled Continental to rise to the 5th rank of global equipment manufacturer.
