Goodyear

Goodyear is an American tire company, founded in 1898 by Frank Seiberling. The company’s first premises were in a converted strawboard factory on the banks of the Little Cuyahoga River in Ohio. The company then manufactured, among other things, bicycle and carriage tires, rubber horseshoes, seals and other rubber products.

Over the years, Goodyear has stood out to become the third largest tire manufacturer in the world after Bridgestone and Michelin. In 1909, the company produced its first tires for aviation and it was during the First World War that it began manufacturing airplanes and airships for the American army. Goodyear also became famous with its flexible airship with which it wanted to join the aerospace and aviation industry after the Second World War.

Today, thanks to its production of tires for cars, planes and heavy goods vehicles, Goodyear has a turnover of more than 20 billion dollars. It also continues to manufacture various rubber-based products
