Kumho

The South Korean tire company Kumho Tire, formerly known as Samyang Tire, is a subsidiary of the Kumho Asiana Group founded on September 5, 1960. Kumho Tire Co, Ltd. is dedicated to the manufacturing of tires. Although the company was initially designed to produce truck tires, in 1963 it decided to expand its customer network by starting the manufacture of car tires.

Between 1980 and 2000, Kumho grew considerably thanks to its research and development center as well as the construction of several manufacturing plants. The company’s expansion increased in the 2000s with the opening of other centers and factories.

Kumho Tire Co, Ltd. today has nine centralized factories in Asia, including four in South Korea, four others in China and one in Vietnam. The tires are then shipped across all other continents. When it comes to numbers, Kumho is at the top of the world’s manufacturers with a turnover of more than $3 billion. Several automobile brands have chosen Kumho as the manufacturer for the original equipment of some of their models. This is the case, among others, of Renault, BMW, Volkswagen and even Hyundai.
